Lessons in Parenthood

So, I have some really new to me lessons because starting this week, I am babysitting my husband's friends three kids. Two boys who are six (identical twins) and a 5 year old girl. Things with older kids are different, and boys, even more so!! So, here is what I have learned in the half week I have been watching (3 1/2 to go!)
1. Just because they are boys doesn't mean they don't cry and whine like girls (or worse!) when they get hurt.
2. Girls get self image issues at a very young age. Jasmine is a big girl for her age, not fat by any means, just tall and built! But she is already concerned with her weight, and I had to praise her for growing so perfectly!
3. Kids do not know the concept of slowing down while eating.
4. An entire glass of milk chugged right after lunch will result in a lunch reverse. BLEK!
5. 4 year olds don't understand that they need to REST still!
6. 6am is too early for ANY kid to be awake.
7. Just because they are able to do more on their own does not mean they SHOULD do them.
8. There is a VAST difference between the understanding of a 2 year old and a 6 year old.
9. five or six is the age they start coming up with arguments as to why they think they can do something.
10. When I say no, it still means no, and arguing is futile, so don't bother.

I am sure this list will continue to grow as the weeks tick by! lol. I like to think that by doing this I am growing as a person (babysitting that is) and it is most definitely cementing the fact that I absolutely DO NOT want six kids!!
