When I think about doors, I think about opportunity. You know the old saying, when one door closes, another one opens. Makes me think about all the chances that God gives us. Sometimes I feel like a door and slammed in my face, something I was so sure about becomes impossible. There is never a time that He will leave me without another possibility. God never leaves us stranded in a situation with no way out. He also has plans to prosper us, not for harm.
The door being open is a very good image for how my mom kept her home. It was an open door home. We knew that no matter what happened, we could come home. We might get our butts kicked, but we were never turned away. I pray that God helps me to be like that. It already feels like that in this neighborhood, the kids (especially during the summertime, are coming in and out and I just love that they can do that. They like to spend time here and I like to make sure that happens. I want my door to be always open, I want to be able to share the grace of God with others. I want to share his love, his forgiveness, his compassion. It's hard sometimes, especially when you see people who take advantage of that. As much as I hate being taken advantage of, I would hate more to close that door on someone who could actually use and benefit from my help and maybe find their way to Christ through me.
What does the word door make you think of?

1000 Gifts: three gifts tasted
- It is a gift to have wonderful home cooked meals made for our family by my wonderful husband.
- It was a gift to have pot lucks at work, to get to try other things that people like. We had a welcome one this week for a newbie and have another planned May 5th.
- It is a gift to have wonderful tasting coffee readily available in the mornings. Our Keurig is my best friend.
