I am linking up with the Five Minute Friday group again. If you want to, just write five minutes on the prompt word. Let me know if yours is public so I can see it! Ready, set, go:
All my life I have struggled with not being enough. I wasn't tall enough, wasn't skinny enough, wasn't good enough. I struggled even more when my first marriage ended. It seemed to reaffirm that I wasn't even good enough to make a good wife.
Looking back, I can see what my problem was: I was relying on my own strength to do things. We as humans, were never meant to live life on our own. We were literally created to be in companionship with God. With him, we can do anything. In fact, we are called to boast our weaknesses so that His power might rest on us. Outside of my five minutes, I looked up a couple verses that back up my story here.

On this earth, we can never be enough. Never. That is why we have Jesus. He completes us to make us "good enough" to go to Heaven and be with Him. That is just amazing to me. Romans chapter five, verses three through five were the verses I stood on through my divorce. My suffering will produce perseverance my perseverance character and my character hope. We have a hope in Jesus that we are enough.
I might look in the mirror and see the imperfect person I am, but God sees me through His son, Jesus. He sees me as more then enough.
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:19
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13
That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:3-5
Well said! I'm new to the FMF community, but I love the way it connects us to each other's writing. We are enough in Jesus! Such precious words. :) thank you!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your words, and think women in particular struggle to remember we are enough. Thanks for sharing! I'm your FMF neighbor : ) Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
